Sometimes I feel like a canary. Here in the modern Christian world, many would say that everything appears normal and okay. There are supposedly great revivals, and the praise and worship movement continues to sweep the nation. Yet, I can't help but feel that something is wrong. Why is there no change in our society? One look at the modern church with all of its majestic music and light shows, choreographed services, award shows, canned sermons, meticulous media features, and standing ovations, speaks that something is off center.
My prayer and hope is that we not forget the truth of what really matters. I hope we, as a chosen generation, rise up against the simple premise of being entertained. I want to be His Hands. I want to be His Feet. I want to bleed on my knees planting the seeds of His Kingdom, feeding the hungry, helping the needy, sharing the gospel with the unreached. I want to veil myself in the Love of Christ, seeking delight in making His Name higher than any other name. There is no higher purpose, no other reason for living.
