The disciples went from sitting in quietness waiting on the Lord to suddenly battling a windstorm. But, this was no tornado. This was the Holy Ghost announcing His arrival! Where there was indecision, now there was purpose. Where there was confusion, now there was a mission. Where there was uncertainty, now there was knowledge. Where there was sadness, now there was joy. Where there was weakness, now there was boldness – boldness to become witnesses.
This terrified band of disciples waiting in the Upper Room left their safe sanctuary and went out into the streets of the city. Such is what the Holy Spirit wishes to do to God’s people – get them out of their safe church and into the streets. Jesus promised His disciples that when the Holy Spirit would come, they would be witnesses of Him in Jerusalem and throughout the region, unto the uttermost parts of the earth. He even promised that the Holy Spirit would give them the words to say.
Are you fustrated with your witnessing? Have you never led a person the the Lord? The Wind that blew through the Upper Room and transformed the disciples into world-shaking witnesses can transform you today as well. All you have to do is ask (Luke 11:13).
“Awake, north wind, and come, south wind! Blow on my garden, that its fragrance may spread abroad.” (Song of Solomon 4:16).
